CERTINA-Group successfully acquired the United Salon Technologies (UST) business from Wilh. Werhahn KG. Closing of the transaction took place on April 30, 2021. Through its two brands Jaguar and Tondeo, UST produces and markets professional scissors, knives, brushes and combs as well as electrical devices and accessories for the hairdressing trade and sells them in over 80 countries. With CERTINA as the new owner, the company will continue its successful course.
Paolo Dell‘ Antonio, Spokesman for the Management Board of Werhahn KG, explains: “UST has recently shown a remarkable development. We have invested a lot in the realignment so that UST is well positioned for the next development step. However, we have come to the conclusion that the Werhahn Group cannot be the best owner for UST. The background is – despite the leading position – the limited market size. For this reason, we and the UST management team started looking for a new owner, whom we found in CERTINA. We are pleased that CERTINA will consistently continue the path started by UST and lead to success.”
Various measures have already been initiated in the recent past. The brand profiles of Tondeo and Jaguar have been sharpened significantly. Process efficiency has increased through optimized production processes and the use of innovative technologies. For example, the production time for some products could be significantly accelerated. Together with the new owner CERTINA, UST will continue to pursue the course in a targeted manner, open new growth prospects in the market for hairdressing equipment and strengthen its established brands.
Holger Schmidt, Managing Partner of the Consumer Goods Division of the CERTINA Group: “We are pleased to welcome UST to the CERTINA Group. UST, from the blade city of Solingen, is Europe’s leading supplier of high-quality scissors and hairdressing equipment and produces the highest quality based on outstanding craftsmanship “Made in Germany”. In the course of the transaction, we got to know the extremely professional management team and great employees, whom we particularly welcome to the CERTINA family. I am convinced that CERTINA, with its industry knowledge, operational experience and track record in the realignment of companies, is the ideal owner in order to guarantee a sustainable development and further strengthen the growth potential of UST nationally and internationally.”
